So you’ve finally decided which blog platform to use for your blog? and you chose wordpress, the state of the art blog platform! ( yeah yeah i’m exaggerating, i’m not ).

But before installing wordpress, you first need to register a domain and purchase a web hosting plan, if you don’t have any of those yet, you can contact me so I can help you purchase a domain with cpanel based hosting.

Installing wordpress isn’t actually as hard as you think, since most of the web hosts nowadays supports once click install or wizard based installation. For this guide, I will simply use fantastico.

Once you have already acquired your cpanel username and password from your web host, login to your cpanel and select fantastico from the series of menu options.

From the Fantastico menu, select wordpress and click New Installation, You should get the following screen:

Install on Domain: this is normally your purchased domain, unless you are installing your blog for a sub domain, your should just leave it with your domain selected.

Install in Directory: you also need to leave this blank unless you want to put it in a sub folder on your website e.g. http://www.domain.com/blog/ in this you should type “blog”.

Admin access data: these are the username and password pair you will use to login on wordpress administration area.

After setting the above, you can now click on Install WordPress, you can setup your WordPress title and description later after installation.

Click Finish Installation and good luck! ;)
