Philippine Peso Appreciation does not make me happy
Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007I’ve been pondering about a few thoughts in the past few days, especially regarding the appreciation of the Philippine Peso over the US dollar. The Local currency has been appreciating over the us dollar for almost a year now, and so are the necessities.
I understand that most Filipinos should be happy about the Peso increase, but to me it’s quite a little different. Instead of being happy for the Philippines, I feel that I am getting less due to this increase.
When thinking about the OCW’s, They may also think the same way as I do, since the money they will be sending to the Philippines will be much lower than what they can send few months ago. We’ll although i’m not an OFW/ OCW myself.
I can’t actually see any reason for me as a civilian to be happy about. Fares’ increasing, Necessities increasing but the money I am earning is growing smaller as the Philippine Peso increases.
I know employees who actually recieve salaries in the local curreny does not feel the same way as I do, but how about those people who are like me. What do you think?
Although of course I still thankfull for having a good source of income, thanks to the Internet, and the people that supports it, and thanks to God for everything that I still have.
