Migrating from Mail Enable to Exim Courrier
May 23rd, 2007I’ve migrating my accounts from a Windows 2003 server, using Mail Enable to handle emails and powered by helm control panel. Since most of the users requirements are mostly linux supported. i’ve migrated the server to a CentOS Server, and is running a Cpanel Control panel.
I’ve been scavenging all over the net for a fast way to do it but to no avail. Then came the emails where problem started to be realized. I also need to copy users email to the new server!
Migrating from one linux box to another is quite an easy task, but this is quite different. So again, i then tried to google if there are any information on how to migrate mailenable mails to exim, since cpanel uses exim. but again, to no avail. So i’ll have to figure it out myself.
tried opening Mail Enables post offices and noticed that it resembles the courrier MTA, so i assumed mail enable uses courrier, which i didn’t bother realizing before.
So, what i did was to copy the mails from the Inbox folder of a certain user, and pasted them to the “cur” folder in the linux box corresponding to the users mail directory.
gladly it works, unfortunately for me, i’ll have to do that on each and every email account on the server. This is bad.

Philippine Peso Appreciation does not make me happy
January 23rd, 2007I’ve been pondering about a few thoughts in the past few days, especially regarding the appreciation of the Philippine Peso over the US dollar. The Local currency has been appreciating over the us dollar for almost a year now, and so are the necessities.
I understand that most Filipinos should be happy about the Peso increase, but to me it’s quite a little different. Instead of being happy for the Philippines, I feel that I am getting less due to this increase.
When thinking about the OCW’s, They may also think the same way as I do, since the money they will be sending to the Philippines will be much lower than what they can send few months ago. We’ll although i’m not an OFW/ OCW myself.
I can’t actually see any reason for me as a civilian to be happy about. Fares’ increasing, Necessities increasing but the money I am earning is growing smaller as the Philippine Peso increases.
I know employees who actually recieve salaries in the local curreny does not feel the same way as I do, but how about those people who are like me. What do you think?
Although of course I still thankfull for having a good source of income, thanks to the Internet, and the people that supports it, and thanks to God for everything that I still have.
Smart Bro Blocks SMTP Ports?
January 9th, 2007I was in vacation for the last few weeks and noticed that I can’t send emails using outlook express through my smart bro connection, but when sending emails via webmails they are being sent. Although I can receive emails… At first I think there was just few issues on my notebook, but when I went back to the office things are normal.
So I think Smart Bro blocks the SMTP port….
Optimizing your page to stay on top
December 21st, 2006You might have spent hours trying to optimize your website to make sure it is highly searchable, and crawlable by engines. Spent more hours and hours making that CSS page work, and got your self a good design layout, and validation stuff. Now you wanted your site to be on top of the engines. Will your website rank well, you might ask?
Now there are a couple of things you might do to make sure you rank on the engines and at least stay on the first page of the SERPS!
1. Put your site on a relevant site that has already been crawled by the engines. Relevant? yes it must be, and as most of you knew, this is to make sure you are in a way which won’t hurt your search engine rankings in the future.
2. Submit your site to as many web directories as possible. Most web directories have pages that are designed to make sure you site fit on that page, make sure you select the most appropriate category for your site and not simply adding a link elsewhere. Choose the best directories possible, pick the most trusted directories such as dmoz, yahoo etc. sometimes it really pays off spending sometime or a few bucks for inclusion on these directories.
3. Create articles, and submit it to good article directories. These articles are being picked up by most webmasters to have some content on their websites. make sure you also have a good link to your website or else are in no way earning anything from that article you have just submitted.
4. Ask some website owners to link with you. It might be time consuming but it’s worth the time. Most webmasters would ask you to have a reciprocal link from your site to their site if they have agreed to your request. Make sure you play with them fairly, cheating them might put you in a bad section, and they might not entertain any of your requests ever again in the future.
5. Create several anchor texts to use while building links. This is usefull to make sure your links are not being mistaken as a spam.
6. Socialize with your competitors and know what they are upto, they may or maynot tell you but doing so will give you hints and ideas for your own use.
I have created a small web directory on one of the sites I am currently optimizing called the clickpond web directory. This directory have quite several categories that will surely fit your site. Go on and add your link to it, linking is Free, though you need to place a reciprocal link to my site.
Lastly, make sure you won’t overdo your link building, in my case i add around 20 - 30 linkbacks per day to make sure the engines would not think i am spamming. Creating too much inbound links to your site might harm you also so be careful.
SmartBro Wifi
December 12th, 2006I’ve been long planning to subscribe to a local internet connection in Baguio where i stay during weekdays so I can access my job even at home. So I asked my wife to find a good option for us. The cheapest way to go for now is SmartBro Broadband. giving us 999 pesos per month on a promising 7 times faster than dialup. (or just another marketing pitch!).
It is also my sole purpose to have a daily (cheaper) communication medium to my family. Thinking it would be of ease, not just another head ache (:D)
I’m a little excited and worried at the sametime. I’m excited cause I will soon have an internet connection at home, but worried that I might experience the same problem as other subscribers are experiencing on the same service. Some even call it SmartBroken? lol that was funny… I hope I am not really going to post several rants against the service on the newly installed blog. hopefully. so Smartbro, make me proud!
Tomorrow I will know the details, and starting saturday i will be able to try it out myself wether or not smartbro really is a solution or a pest.
What do you think?
